Your privacy is very important to me. The counseling experience is a confidential process where I maintain your privacy yet you have the liberty to share your experience. Confidentiality offers clients a safe and free setting to openly express their concerns. This privacy allows clients in the counseling experience to freely progress through issues that may be very sensitive in nature.
Confidentiality applies to a majority of the counseling experience. There may be limits to privacy where laws determine exceptions. If I were informed of suspected harm to minors, elders, or dependent adults, I would need to address the concern with respective social services. The law also permits me to break confidentially when the client presents a danger of violence to an identifiable victim or is likely to harm him or herself unless protective measures are taken.
